    VASH stands for Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing. It’s a powerful housing voucher program that pairs HUD (Department of Housing and Urban Development) with the VA (Department of Veterans Affairs) to help homeless veterans find—and keep—permanent housing.

    The VASH program is a special version of the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) program, designed specifically for homeless veterans. But unlike traditional Section 8, VASH comes with supportive services built in—think case management, mental health care, substance use counseling, and job support from VA staff.

  • HACLA vs LACDA: What’s the Difference?

    All these acronyms makes it easy to get confused. Sometimes called “city” or “county” vouchers give us an idea of the key differences. HACLA is the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles, meaning it covers everything within LA city limits. See the map below to get an idea of LA city limits or type in a ZIP code to find out.

    So HACLA covers LA city limits so LACDA provides coverage for LA county. While the geographic area covered is larger LACDA coverage excludes cities within LA county with their own city level housing authority. Here is a map showing that
